Meeting the Gator Boys

Jake LOVES the show on Animal Planet - Gator Boys. It's about 2 guys & their team that catch alligators. One of the Gator Boys, Jimmy Riffle was going to be at the Oak Mt Fair over the weekend. So we surprised Jake with a trip to the fair and a chance to see Jimmy preform.

While we waited for the show to start, we let Jake ride the rides. Jake tends to be a scaredy cat. Everything scares him. Worms, the vacuum, loud noises, etc.. So I wasn't sure what he would think of the rides. Especially the loud ones that jerk you around. He loved them. He laughed and told us how much fun he was having. Just when I think I have the kid figured out, he adds another personality.

He wanted to try everything. The slides, the rides, the obstacle course...
I love this video of Jake. The race cars were the last ride that we rode. I thought they just went in a circle. But as we stood in line, we realized that as you go around the turns, it speeds up & slings you. We saw one kid crying on the ride, so we asked Jake if he was sure he wanted to do it. He assured us he did & I'm so glad he did. He loved it & laughed the whole time. He is in the #4 green car.

Now, finally the time he had been waiting for. He got to meet a Gator Boy & watch the alligator show. He was shy to talk to them at first, but once he warmed up, I was scared we were not going to be able to get him to stop talking. The guys were so nice & so great to all of the kids that were there.

After the show, you could give a $5 donation and get to hold a baby alligator. Again, Jake is scared of almost all animals. Worms, frogs, fly, bugs. But an alligator? Nope, he'll hold that.

Afterwards we bought Jake a Gator Boys shirt which he had to put on before we even got to the car. He then wore it for 3 days straight as long as we were at the house. He got upset when I told him he couldn't wear it to school on Tuesday, because it had to get washed at some point.
